Hi my name is Dawn, I appreciate it can be difficult choosing a counsellor that you feel comfortable working with. I am a firm believer that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is extremely important. Counselling is a time set aside for you. What you talk about will vary according to your needs. You are free to discuss what you wish from everyday events, dilemmas, feelings, thoughts, regrets, aspirations, worries etc. The sessions are confidential and last 60 minutes.
I am a qualified and experienced Person Centred Counsellor and Supervisor. And a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I consider myself to be a warm and friendly person.
I have a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and also a Diploma in working with Children experiencing Grief and Loss. I am also an experienced trainer in working with loss.
I was qualified in 2002. Since then I have worked with many adults, children and young people experiencing a wide range of issues including, trauma, depression, cancer, terminal illness, anxiety, sexual abuse, bereavement, self esteem, fears, child related issues, personal development, and relationship issues.
For the past 14 years I have been employed as an Adult and Children’s counsellor and Manager of the family support service at a local hospice. During that time, I have gained extensive experience working with those who have a life limiting condition and receiving palliative care. I have managed and facilitated bereavement groups and workshops for both adults and children. I have a wide experience in training also.
I love working as a counsellor both with children and adults. I believe every human being is unique and has the capacity to recognise their own needs. Helping clients to work through difficult issues is always very rewarding and satisfying for me as a therapist.
